Jim I figured that out years ago when I purchased my first Lowrance Paper Graph for Sturgeon fishing.  When you think about it analyze it with common sense and logic, it's the only answer you can come up with.  You can't believe how many people argued with  me over this, as far as the size of a fish I mean.  I even had people try to convince me that they could tell which side of the boat the fish was on and some even thought they could tell what kind of a fish it was.  In all the years I fished at Bonneville for Sturgeon I know I had some monsters under the boat at times, but the signals were always about the same sizes.  Some of the biggest and fatest arches were no bigger than some of the bass, or small Catfish that we have here, that I see under boat now days.

I gotta disagree with ya Jamie---when Humminbird introduced the Matrix series about 3 or 4 years ago, they just  ran around the end for a touchdown and left the rest of the field in disbelief.  Now with the latest 700 and 900 series, and the side imaging models, they have conquered the field...Lowrance doesnt own Humminbird they own Eagle.  As far as Garmins go I think they are on a level playing field with lowrance, furano, eagle, and Raytheon marine.  You have to drop down into Humminbirds Mid range fishfinders to be on par with Lowrance top end units now.  Again the top end bird's are the creme de la creme.  It will be interesting to see what the other manufacturers do to catch up in the coming years.
