What is the best knot to tie to the swivel from the main line? Bob currently uses a figure 8 knot. And That seems not to hold. He uses the snell not on the hook w/fig 8 I DONT want any more to get away because of this. I wish I jumped into the water and Tackeld him : : LOL That would have been funny there :ROFL I just dont think Bob would live very long if that happens again [smilie=new_argue.gif] LOL just kidding PLEASE HELP!!!!! I might try to do it myself gotta learn some time

FM I like to use the improved cinchknot and I make sure the tag end goes thru the top loop in the same direction as the mainline so that the harder they pull the tighter it gets  : :

I use a palomar knot on the main line to swivel whether I'm using mono or braid and I've never had one break or slip loose, I like the doubled line through the swivel eye but I snell all my hooks.

Both the palomar and the Trilene knot will provide you with about 90% line strength and you cant beat the no knot snell that I have a video up on here some where. The trilene is easy to tie even with heavy line,,,all you do is pass the line thru the eye of the hook or swivel twice and you'll leave a little loop there,, wrap around the main line 4 times and take the tag end and pass it thru the loop and draw everything tite.

Palomar for mono, double palomar for braid. Double is tied by going through the swivel twice instead of once and around the line twice instead of once.

they opened a new Bas Pro near me and Berkly set up a tent, they hade the coolest machine. Me and a friend "on the clock" stopped in to see. This fella had us each tie our favorite knots to a swivel. My friends trilene knot broke @ 17# w/10# line(mono), my improved cinch broke @ 14.5#, the mans palomar, 22#, so I like the palomar. I snell all my offset hooks, palomar on swivels, but I have tried a new knot on swivels, the offshore swivel knot , http://www.fish4fun.com/swivel.htm , seems like a good knot.

i use the palamar knot the most...i havent had the knot fail on me yet... i know that i was breaking off some pretty big line before i learned how to tie them..... years ago and yes there is a huge difference in saving your fish..
