Hello Everyone

Has anyone used the Black Salty for bait?  When the water starts warming up I plan to try my luck with them for flatheads.  I have used them for channel cats in my reservoir and done well.  They are the toughest baitfish I have ever seen.  The Black Salty is produced close to my farm.  If you are not familiar with it, here is the website that gives you the skinny.  www.blacksalty.com

I've read about them before, but never used em. a couple other real tough baits for flats are rockbass (googleye, redeye) and of course goldfish and Israeli carp.

The Black Salty was developed through selective breeding of goldfish.  They are very salt tolerant and much tougher than any goldfish I have ever seen.  They will live in seawater for thirty minutes and brackish water for about two hours.  They seem to live forever, on a hook, in fresh water.

They are a very good striper bait and I think they just may be the ticket for flatheads.  I am going to give them a good try for the flats when the water warms up.

Will see if I can get any locally and give them a try. Most generally I use gills, goldfish or Israeli carp for live bait.

I've used them a few times but its isn't what I was wanting when I first used them. I was trying to buy some extra large minnows. They work fine and will live for awhile.

I have been using Black Goldfish  watch looks about like baby carp but have done very well with them. Pulled 38 flatheads out of the susquehanna one night off them and they have work well for big blues on the potomac as well. Plus at 20.00 a 100 they go along ways
