They are all good baits for the two species, and I cant really say one is better than another

All work equally well for blues. I generally use white perch here in SC because they are tons of them and they are usually easy to catch.

all pretty equal..for both...but i picked shad and gill...... i think here in the river i do the best on shad....but gills and large goldfish.. i like as well because of the livelinesses of the fish and live much longer thrashing around on your hook..thats why i like them....so you cant go wrong with none of them!

Tim

I have always suggested that guys let
the cats know what they prefer. This is pretty
much a trial and error thing. Also a favorite
bait changes over the course of a season.

For some strange reason the blues in the Ohio
river here will prefer shad one day and skipjack
the next day. Savvy catmen take both to find
what they prefer when they go.

Flathead seem to eat any live fish they encounter
that will fit in their mouths. With trial and error and
some time you can fine tune your choice by finding
a favorite.

Normally cats go after the most available food source.
