sometimes we use tiger shrimp.I like the un cooked kind.We just hook it throught the tail, or thread it on like a rubber worm.Sometimes it out preforms fresh shad. But the bigger fish I catch all come from freshcut from live, or live baitfish.

Tonite I grilled my shrimp and served them with a lemon butter sauce and a rib eye on the side.

Thanks for that tip Whiskerkat.  I've used the same shrimp you're talking about but have never soaked them in vanilla.  I'm going to give that a try as soon as the water around here warms up.  Right now it's about 37 degrees.  Thanks again.

Anyone ever infuse them with shad oil and garlic using a vacuum sealer?

Do a half and half shad gut in a jar and use a pump n seal several times on it.   There are many combinations that I have used from time to time depending upon the time of year.  The Spring, I will put in clam juice and a few oysters to fish over the clam beds.  Summer change out to vanilla or anise and fall blood, gut and oil.

i have used the shrimp before myself, but did like whiskercat said about the injecting. i use the oil from smoked oysters, the oil from tuna, the oil from sardines, ect ect ect. another thing i like to do is buy some garlic peel and crush the garlic so the juices start to flow and put the garlic cloves in vegetable oil and let set for a while up to a week for a real strong sent, and inject it into the bait im using.     [smilie=a_bravo.gif]
