As far as live bait goes, I like to use BIG Goldfish, like this one



I also like using anything natural swimming in the same water as the cats I am targeting. Please understand that here in Ohio this normally means you must catch these baits on a hook & line & NOT by a cast net. But I'll use Bass, Saugeyes, etc...





Some live bait that CAN be caught by cast net include suckers & chubs as these pics show.

As far as cut bait goes:

I use shad such as this more than anything else.



I will also use skipjack, if I have them.



When times get real tough, I will sometimes use sheephead (freshwater drum)

Dang that Sheephead/Drum is some good eating.

Steam that meat and dip it in butter. Bout like eating crab.

i use mostly live bluegill and goldfish.thinking bout trying some bullhead sometime this year

Those are fine baits for sure Mellon, you seemed to forget one important factor..You cant catch BAIT!
