heres an old recipe my grandpa use to use  he would take some fairly big suckers and he would chunk them up put them in a jar then bury them in ground for about a week  let me tell u he would catch cats on top of cats  the only down fall  he said u had to bait ure hook with pliers cause u couldnt wash the stink off your fingers
