has anybody ever used stock salt or fine stock salt from a feed store for helping your bait fish or shad......ive been doing some research and i think that im going to give it a try i have seen that others have had some good luck with it. and @ $8.oo for a 50# bag at a southern states you cant beat that price...... thats what one can of shad saver or keeper will run you......well see what happens..... i know you have to use a lil bit more....a tad over 1 cup per 10 gallons.... and will have to remove the chlorine or use fresh water .....but i will give it a try .....

You should be able to get it for half that price or so. I pay around $3.50 for 50 lbs of fine stock salt from TSC.

I use it for taxidermy, but it works well for me.   It is a very clean salt, with no fillers or other minerals, so it should work well for fish. I don't use shad, so I've never added salt to bait water. It's seems to be pretty much SOP for those who do try to keep them alive.
