How long should we stick with a spot before we move? And what should we consider when moving

Well if I'm flatheading, I generally wont move for 24 hrs, if channel and blue cat fishing it kinda depends on the faith I have in a spot...maybe an hour or two

Most of my fishing is done from the bank, so that makes moving alot harder than if boat fishing..If I am in a spot that has produced in the past I will stay there the whole time, especially for flatheads.

Ive noticed if the river is high and muddy And I dont find fish within a half hour they aint there and aint coming till the water drops. But when the river is flooded I move around a lot till I find where they are holding and then it becomes non stop for as long as they are feeding

In the lake I give it 30 minutes with no bites and move. If I'm bank fishing it's to much trouble to move and set up so I stay put.

Up to an hour with no bites. If getting bites a couple hours. If catching fish and getting steady bites, I'll sit on a spot for hours.

It all depends on if Im fishing from a boat or from the bank, and what species Im targeting.I will sit a spot longer for flatheads from the bank, but after trying different presentations and baits,if I dont get any hits I move and try to locate actively feeding fish.If the fish are there and feeding,it dosent normally take long. Instead of waiting for the fish find my baits, I take the baits to the fish.

i guess im a lil more patient or lazy...lol... if in a boat...i like to give it an hour or two.... on the bank depends on if its a know producing spot if it usually is ill only stay a few hours but if i have all my gear i usually stay till set up till couple hours after sun up...and when moving look for the same thing that brought you tho the other place .....structure and such..... some times i can fish one spot and tear them up all night then nothing the next time then sometimes maybe the last of 8 hours so its trial and error...and depending on the fish...for channels i tend to move more than the flathead ill stay a lot longer for them..

If i'm out for flatheads i'll stay put till the cows come home, no offense Grumpy. If i'm looking for channels i might give it an hour or 2

I mostly fish from the bank so I will break the day in three parts. I find a place and I will fish it for about a third of the plan fishing day. If I am getting bites then I stay. If I am getting no bites then I move to a different place for the second part of the day. Same rule for the third part of the day.

I'm constantly moving, since most of my fishing is done by drifting. You cover a lot more of an area this way.

15 minutes. If they don't want to eat I'm gone. Where I fish though there is an awful lot of bank access. When I'm in my boat I do the same thing. I figure if they can't find my baits in 15 mintues there is something wrong or they just aren't there, so I keep moving until I find hungry ones. I'm fishing for channels, so I guess that would make a difference. We don't have Blues (I don't think) and the Flatheads I really haven't tried to fish for yet.

channels i move often when the bite falls or when its just not there from the get go i kind look at that as fishing for bluegills
shovelheads ill tend to just camp the spot i hate moving i must have had faith in the spot for some reason to be there so i like to be there before dark and leave well after morning if its all good then move and fish for channels then do the same thing in a diffrent spot the next night but that all seems to change in weather and hunger and what not   8)
