I caught these two fish this week and thought i would post them and see if anyone knew what the cause of these fish was. Starting to wonder what is in the water around here. I had another really short 8lb blue this week also that i didnt get a picture of.

This one had a front end nose like a 50 model buick

This one was covered in something on both sides but nothing on its head.

Thanks Jim. Can you tell me more about the parasitic worms? Im justing for looking the basic cause of them and the end result to the fishes health. I done a little search and seen where it said the worms wasnt harmful to humans because it was taken care of when cooked. Always learning something.

I dont know to much about them, other than they dont extend into the meat in most cases,,kind of a skin type disease/pest, I doubt they ever rid themselves of em completely, but probably are cyclic due to water temps during the seasons and show up more in the warmer water months.

I see a lot of white cats with the bumps on them, as many blues as I've caught, I've never paid attention to , or tried to determine males or females, is there an easy way to tell. I don't catch many at all with the head like the first pic. I have caught some that looks like they have a curved spine and look way too short for they're head and weight, almost deformed looking.

that first one is an alabama blue cat, first cousin of the arkansa blue cat.one picture tells the story, I knew a girl once that reminds me of the second pic. she drank to many pepsi's.their probably from the same limb on the family tree.  I't just means youve reached the bottom of that hole you been fishing. time to move on. maybe Price or someone can elaborate on it. grin

I was comming back from a train wreck one time and stopped at a well known in NE Oklahoma place for spoonbill. I always carried a two piece rod with me so I hit it a lick. Right off the bat I hit about a 30 pounder and didn't have a rope or anything. So, I carried the fish up the bank and laid him down on a large flat rock. About 15 min later I quit fishing and went to get my fish and the sun and that hot rock had drawn the damnest mess of worms out of that fish that I ever saw. I could not eat that fish account of the memories of those white worms.

For those that are curious about the sex of blues.  The males are the ones that are long and lean looking and have a wide mouth.  Females ar short and fat with the skinny small mouth.  I read an article on it somewhere that explained this.  If I can find it I'll link to it.
