I hit an underwater object with my 90 horse Mercury and took a large chip out of the skeg and bent it to the left.  Is it possible to fix this if so what do I need to do.  I was thinking about just bending it back and putting a skeg guard on it but thought that it might snap while I was trying to repair it.  any help would be appreciated.

I haven't had much luck straighting skegs I have busted a few trying but I found a replacement skeg I will see if I can find a link for it The way it worked was you did a little grinding and this slid up over the bustd skeg and bolted in flush  2wink smiley

you can heat it up with a rosebud but the problem is you have to be careful you don't over heat the seals in the foot  koolsmiley

I ordered the skeg guard and installed it.  It worked great! When I get my next boat I think I will install one before I damage anything just to protect the prop.
