I have an aluminum 14 ft seanymph semi-V that I purchased in 1997 and am trying to get a title for it. I got a title from the guy but it turned out it was just for the trailor. In the DNR for watercraft it says if you don't have the old title that you need a form filled out and signed by the seller for Poer of Attorney. He doesn't live where he did at the time and no idea where he has gone. WHAT DO I DO????

My grandparents gave me a boat and just wrote a note saying that they had sold it to me for a $1...they didn't have the title because it was my grandpaws brothers old boat. All I had to do to get a title was take a picture of the boat and I showed them the note from my grandparents....but this was 5 years ago it may have changed some now....but break the law alittle and right yourself a note from the seller....know one will ever know the difference...lol. Good luck man!

This may be easier than you think

You Can get it on Ebay

Actually there are a number of companies out there that do the title search and transfer for a fee....I never heard tell of it until last year when Wayno told me about it.

So all you need is the VIN off the boat and any prior registration numbers and a bill of sale will help

In N.C. if the boat is under 16' you dont have to have a title, just  register the trailer .

i did the same thing for an old volkswagen bug i had with no title.
when you use 1 of those companys you sell the boat to them for $1.00. they in turn register it in a state that does not need a title then sell it back 2 you for the $1.00 plus thier fee.
then you use the title you have to register it in the state you live in.
i know i did it with a car but the boat would work the same way....

                                              good luck

Get in touch with VIDF. Ask them about a lost title Give them the #'s off the side of the boat. They will give you the last know add of the guy who own it. Then you have to mail him a certified letter. It will take about  two weeks to get back to you. Depending on on long it takes him to get back with you. All he does is sign the letter saying he no longer owns the boat. That you bought it from him.
Then take that to VIDF & get the new title. For mine it was around thirty bucks i think.
