Well after mine and rippers escapde of last weekend I finally got a Marine dealer to take a look at --- it's only a hundred miles to my nearest marine dealer --- pleaded and begged then to let me stay until they got it going again,,,but no,,,we try to have it done by next Thursday --- barely in time to make Kens tourney and take the wounded warriors out on Sunday... so alias I drive back to work as I had taken a half a day off to get it there...They call a couple hours later and say your boat is all ready come and get it anytime  tickedoff tickedoff tickedoff so there goes another tank of gas  tickedoff tickedoff tickedoff  The mechanic told me I had two problems,,,the fuel filter after the pump wasn't letting enough gas to get thru,,,ok the filter is a year and half old so maybe its a really really micro fine filter.  And now the second and biggest problem,,,,your sparks plugs were in backwards --- doooohhhhhhh --- uh they only have threads on one end dip (bad word) how ya gonna screw em in the other way....Well you see Evinrude's spark plugs (Champions) are indexed,,,you have to go thru 2 or 3 dozen so that you can find 3 that the gap faces the injectors to get it right.  shocked  shocked  huh  huh tickedoff tickedoff So a couple hundred bucks later I found out that it takes a rocket scientist to change the plugs on my motor----uh wait I've been a rocket scientist and left that field of Endeavor (no pun intended).  Moral of the story, if ya aint a watch repairman,,dont screw with you watch.

You got to love them new motors! I am glad to hear you got it straight Jim. My '73 Chrysler was running like @$$ the past month so last weekend I took the flywheel off and much to my supprise the points were barely opening. I regapped them and now it runs like a scalded dog again  koolsmiley I love my old motor I can work on. The only bad part is the amount of gas it drinks  tickedoff

Jim to solve the problem of going through a bunch of plugs to find one that index's right you can buy indexing washers. As long as the plugs are gasket seat type these will get the job done. They can be found at high performance parts stores.

I am glad you got it going . I think they do that kind of thing to people on purpose.
I didn't know about the plug indexing.
