I voted for shad but I like almost any cut bait for channels, they'll hit about anything you through out there.

1. Baby shad, end of tail cut, gut pocket pierced)
2. Cut bait (whatever I have shad, skipjack, gills, etc)
3. Chicken Livers
4. Night crawlers

But we all know channel cat will eat almost anything

I normally fish for blues, but I just moved and seem to bee catching quite a few channels here . so I am searching for all the input I can find on these beasts. If anyone wants to share a few secrets with me , please feel free to I.M. me . I live in south central Louisiana . I fish the Lake Verret area. The water is a stained black color only about 12 ft. deep at the most. The entire lake banks consists of about 20 ft. of cypress trees and knees extending out from the bank. there is plenty of structure for big cats here, yet I can't seem to find any big channel cats. Any advice would be greatly appreciated here.

Thanks,

"the happy meal"...in the 7 hour tournaments i fish in....i usually devote the first hour to channels and maybe the last 30 min too, but i save the happy meal for the channels...it consists of cutting the head of a chub off...threading the hook down its back, putting a little bit of liver on it...and then wrapping a worm all around it to make a meal for a keeper, i think we have used that ever since we caught a 12 pounder to win some $$....
