I haven't checked it yet, but I'm hoping to mount it centered on the transom under the motor mount.  The new transducer will go in the standard location on the right, which will be higher than the HDsi transducer - so no interference.

I don't think that will work Scott because of motor cavation especially at higher speeds  huh

In that configuration, the HDsi transducer will be set up to run at slow speed only - off plane.  No cavitation to deal with.

That's where a lot of guys are mounting them on their bass boats.  They're even mounting them on the bottom of their jack plates.  It's nice and protected there too.

Yes, I got it the other day, I've been reading the book that came with it. I don't know if I even understand some of it but I'm getting there. I'm going to mount the transducer tomorrow and get everything wired up so my wife can take me out in the boat so I can learn how to use it seeing that I won't be able to fish for a couple of months while I'm recuperating from the shoulder surgery scheduled for the 21st.

10/4 sounds like you may have plenty of time to do some more reading after the 21st. The book is a little overwhelming but you will get it. Im still learning. I fished friday night and focus on shallow water and run the 83 k and found it useful to mark fish in shallow water drifting. I got to get me a card for mine so i can take pictures. I dont think about it until i get to the store and i cannot remember which one to get. I done that today again. Good luck on the 21st.

Fishhook get you a SD card for that bird. I got me one the other day. They around 20 bucks for 2gb. I just started playing with mine on the simulator today. Its going to be a good tool for the flathead fishing and studying the pictures. Now i got to get a me a card reader. I thought i had one that came with my old lowrance but i cannot seem to find it now. I tell you the more i learn about this unit ...the more i like it.

I got mine mounted and went to Salt Fork Lake on Sat looking around trying to get the hang of it, then went to Dillon Lake on Sun and got a good look at all those high humps just under the surface and the creek channels. I really like it so far but I had surgery last mon so it'll be a couple of months before I can get on the river with it looking for big flatheads under those old barges.

Hot dang! I was taking a little nap today and the wife woke me becuase somebody was at the door. She said what did you order? I said nothing and broke for the door....lol. I now have my advanced system side imaging "y" cable. Part number 720055-1 or AS SI DB Y. This product is compatible with the 700,900 and 1100 series.  Bad part is they calling for rain here for the next few days....so my test on this new part may be delayed but Im excited about it. No more high speed plowing for me. grin Humminbird continues to smoke the field. evil

Well Scott said he got his on and mine is on so we ready for a test. Results coming.

well i got high speed readings but i dont know if it was the plankton in the lake tonight or what but it sure was hazey on the screen. Side image wasnt exactly right either but i noticed i had flipped the side image transducer up when i was at top end speed. didnt catch until i loaded the boat. What a dummy i must be. Need another test. There was a lowrance on the lake too and he was having problems with the plankton. maybe the lake is turning over or something. I dont know. Strange. huh Fish wasnt biting either. sad

Good news and bad news....

My high speed readings with the new transducer are awesome!! And I'm getting both side views.

The bad news?  I screwed up my HDSi transducer.

I tried to squeeze it in just under the motor mount and just above the bilge plug where it would have a good view of both sides and would be somewhat protected.  My boat is too low on the trailer so I can't trim the motor all the way down unless it's in the water, so I made some measurements to place the transducer so the cavitation plates on the motor wouldn't hit it.  It needed to fit nicely in between both plates - which it did - but I didn't take the cable into consideration.  The upper plate hit the rubber boot on the transducer cable and tore it up.  The transducer was still working when I pulled the boat out so, hopefully, I can goop it up with some sealant and keep water out of the transducer.  Expecting failure, I went ahead and ordered a new one today.  $167 at Beach audio by the way...

Here is the new transducer location..

Here is the torn up transducer...

And here is the awesome new dual beam addon.  You can see where the HDSi was located which didn't give me good left side readings and worked badly at high speeds for the 2D downlooking readings.
