ive been using a lms-332 now for about a year. i love it so far. best recommendation i can give is to take you owners manuel and hit the river for a day just learning it. they have so many great functions that it takes a bit of learning to understand them all. another tip is if you have high speed internet go to lowrances website and they have interactive "games" that you can use as a tutering tool to learn your specific fishfinder.

Starting to learn how to use it

What color are the fish you mark? Are they blue arches or yellow/orange arches?

If anyone reading this has a color finder and has pictures of fish marked please post up

A couple of questions for ya

1) when Im creeping along and I see yellow arches on the bottom I am guessing that is a tree or something and not a fish correct?

2) How do I adjust to eliminate the blue clutter on the bottom of the screen. I know how to adjust the sensitivity to decrease  clutter on top Im just not sure about the bottom

thanks all

Basic settings that I have established on my unit.

 1. Turn off the Auto sensitivity

2. I run sensitivity at about 85%

3. I run the depth in manual mode and because I target Catfish I will create a window from about 10 foot below the surface to the bottom, it gives me greater detail and better separation of my targets.

4. Colorline I push till I get about a 1/2 inch thick of yellow when I'm in white background mode on the bottom, because I run in manual mode my colors will be different than in auto, red is real easy for me to spot when I'm running high speed down the river. You can also go to the bottom lock feature which turns the bottom to brown and fish will show up as yellow, blue and red.

5. Ping and chart speed are set to 100%

Catfish should show up in red, don't get hung up on the arches thing as generally they are just outside the center of the beam so they will show up as quarter arches or just a mark. Your using a dual freq unit so it is 200/50hz. and that will give you a different view also. Mine is 200 the Humminbird is a dual but I only use the 200 unless I'm in water greater than 70' then I'll use the 50hz.

As far as blue clutter on the bottom of the screen I haven't seen that can you get a picture on here of it so we can see what your talking about.
