Bigcat me and you need to get on the water with that lowrance and striaghten it out maybe. I think its just way out of adjustment. Scott I have been setting in a hole and see a fish come into the cone and get a bite before but I havent set up on a particular fish and caught him. I have seen even more fish come up on the screen and not get a bite too. I seen a few....not enough come under up on the screen with a hook in his mouth too.

pat, what speed are you moving at when you are using the sonar? Also, the transducer needs to be level with the water surface. some boats have a nose up attitude, others don't. If the transducer isn't level with the water it won't show arches very well, mostly streaks on an angle, or straight lines. A forward speed of 4-6 mph works better for me, too. Take Michael up on his offer, and I'm certain he can help you work it out.

my boat does sit down in the back end, but i adjusted accordingly, no streaks, just blobs, at any speed, i usually run 3-4 mph while looking, if i am anchored and a fish is underneath, it will stretch a straight line all the way across the screen, i dunno, maybe mike can help me one day, of course it may be the transducer??

It could possibly be a bad transducer. Do you happen to have any screen shots? This attachment is kinda typical of a pretty good view for me.

Well Im about ready to jump in on another side image for my other boat. Been weighing some options of just buying another transducer and gps module or just bite the bullet and buy a whole new unit for my jet boat. I been using my old lowrance and well....I just like my humminbird so much better. Im thinking hard about it for the future. I talked to bass pro sunday about the transducer but the info. was iffy sounding to me. He did say the units come with two transducers now? Maybe they went ahead and added the high speed transducers to the new units? Anyone have the 1197 on here?

I got a great deal on a 797! The place I bought my jet boat through decided they needed to close up shop. I had spotted a 797 on the wall in the shop and had check on it through my uncle who works there. Price was $997.00 Well a week ago I get a phone call from my uncle wanting to know if I wanted the side image unit. I asked how much? He said half price. I said Im on my way. Ended up buying a new trolling motor at the same time for my jet boat for half price too. Only reason Im posting this is because the banks have put alot of preasure on dealerships and slow boat sells have hurt alot of them in my area also. So the doors are getting shut on these small businesses. So its a great time to land on a super cool deal at these places if you keep your eyes peeled. So check them out.
