good stuff here.....i for flat heads i present the live bait as such....from the tip the of the rod...down....slip or no roll sinker, bead, palomar knot to the swivel palomar knot to the end of the leader usuallyaround 12-18" long depending, then my hook of choice for flats either a 10/0 king kahle or gamma octopus......thats how i do it here...use the penn reels with bait clicker on..........andy

Those are all pretty much slip rigs.  There are alot of variations of those also.   We can cover those in another thread.
Let's get back to the 3 way rig concept as there are a few more things that we need to ask some pretty specific questions.   Jeremy is volunteering some good information about this offering to help our site and us to learn his style since this is his favorite rig.  There are allot of Pros that are starting to drift in our site that hopefully will be like Jeremy and show us their style and techniques.   So lets see how indepth we can study this 3 way rig....

What type and how heavy are the swivels you using?
Are they shaped like a T or a Y as there are both?

I use the Spro 3-way swivels shaped like a "Y" in size 2/0/130# tst. I use a smaller diameter line such as 10-12# mono for my sinker line and on the hook leader i would use 60-80# since i belive it helped the hook line extend away from my main line and sinker line preventing "twists".  I use another 3way that does not involve the use of a swivel but ill save that for another time i reckon.

Sorry for the delay in the replys. I have been away from the computer and on the water all weekend.
The 3-way swivels I use are the salt water additions that Bass Pro sales. They are black in color and my size of choice is 3/0.
I have played around with many different types of 3-way rigs and I have came to like the T-style the best. The T-style seamed to keep the line from twisting the most. The T seperated the drop sinker line from the hook leader the much more then the Y style does............Hope this helps...............Jeremy

I have to agree with Jeremy on this one..the T style swivels are the best but good luck finding any the size needed for big cats,i use to be able to get em from wally world in 2/0 but now all they have are the real small ones, cant find any on catfish connection either..but what i have found using the "Y" type swivels is if you use a larger hook line such as 60-80# mono itll help keep the hook away from your sinker and main line a bit more.

Thats ok, figured you might have been out there..  Ill just have to take this weekend off then to get even with you on that one!!
What type of floating device if any do you use for floating your hook up?     Or do you just use your leader lengths to set your heights off the bottoms?

I have done both. I have used a float where there isn't any current to bring the bait up. If I'm fishing which is what I normally try to find then I won't use any float. I use my drop sinker leader to adjust how far I want the bait off the bottom...........

Any specific knots you use to tie off in the various places of the rig?   Some are weaker than others is why I was asking.
