What would you say would be the best knot for a child or a person just starting out in fishing to use?

my son learned the knot that you posted above in just 2 tries john, it is a basic and simple knot for a small kid to learn.

The improved clinch knot is an easy one to tie. The palomer knot is better, but I usually use the improved clinch knot.

How to tie a double knot on their shoes so they dont come untied tripping over them to fall out of the boat or into the water.   We all know how kids are with their shoes coming untied..    Very important Dad's trick..
Then show them the palomar.

I can't keep my shoes tied. I even put some Elmer's Glue on the knot and they came loose before I got to the kitchen.
