Yep the same stale argument but I thought I'd ask anyway!
Do you prefer Hi Viz or Lo Viz and do you really think is makes any difference at all to the catfish?
I have used both and my catch ratio seems higher with Lo Viz but I prefer Hi Viz cause its easier to see. I'm still undecided which to use this year?

Well Jim I can honestly say I'm in the same boat as you and caught more and bigger catfish using Clear than when using Hi Viz.

As far as I can tell the catfish in the Ohio River dont care what color line you use.But then again the water stays coffee colored most of the time unless weve been in pool for a lil while. It might be a problem in crystal clear water but it doesnt seem to be a factor here where its muddy and murky most of the time.

blue line & the green waters of the river hide together very well under water but you can still see it above water = this is my choice color and its worked out great if you use mono http://all-in-general.com/product_info.php?products_id=17048

Now right there I think your onto something! I noticed when I was using Solar Green Big Game I almost never caught anything when the water was clear. In fact I mentioned this to my buddy and he noticed too that we did best when the water was cloudy to muddy over when the water was clear. We both also noticed we did best when we used either clear or lo viz green lines over solar green. I realize some think its BS and it makes no differences at all which is fine and each persons experiances dictate their opinions. I think having confidence in your equipment leads to better results too. If you feel everythings set up right, you have the right equipment, baits ect, ect your apt to put more time on the water. Flatheads are what I target. Think how many times have you read or heard you got to have patience! Thats where I think at least for me by having confidence in my equipment ect. helps me have more patience and spend more time on the water. I think I'll stick with lo viz as I do have more confidence in it.

I have caught good fish on HI-Viz and low-Viz here is a picture of a fish I caught a few years ago as you can see the line is Hi-Viz green. I too love Cajun Red as Doug said above...this fish weighed 30 lbs which is not huge but still shows that larger fish don't care as well. By the way the water where I was fishing was more clear than murky as well.

Hi-viz aint allowed on my boat if we are flathead fishing. Sure some catfish are caught on hi-viz line in clear water but even a blind hog can find an acorn every once and a while. Also I think fishing pressure has a lot to do with it. The places ive noticed the largest difference are heavily fished clear smaller lakes.

Looks like someone else is thinking along the same lines (pun intended) as me on hi viz line and clear water.

Everyone has there own theory or confidence in the color of lines but we are still talking about the same trophy flathead catfish that are caught ever year on trotlines even in clear water......trotline leaders are very visible....

Ah, but a trotline is usually brown or dark green, not flame neon disco colored. It would be more natural for a brown "string" (grass, root, stick) to be attached to an injured fish.

White or yellow trotlines catch them also, everyone has there own thoughts on this but there is nothing invisible about a trotline.
