I'm sorry I cant put much weight behind this test and it wasn't test against a Kahle hook it was tested against a J hook.  The test was in a saltwater fishery and everyone knows salt water fish hit harder and more aggressive than fresh water fish.  Rarely do you have a saltwater fish nippling and lipping bait,,they feed like its their last meal forever.  In those situations a properly  snelled circle hook will outperform other hook types.  I use circles, kahles, and J hooks (octopus mainly).  Sometimes flatheads go into what I call "chewer" mode and munch on the bait and the circle hook doesnt perform well at all there.  Last fall when I caught my 63, all my poles had various hook types and sizes,,I dont think I had any two that was the same,,,but the all hooked up and caught fish equally well that day

I have to agree with what Jim is saying. I haven't fished salt water for years but I do not think it has changed any!!!

I have to agree I dont think the test was fair to other hooks. Both have their advantages and the circle was at a total advantage in this case. Who was setting the hook on the others? Circle work fine if wait on the fish to set it. I dont have that much time to fish. I got to get em and go. :2wink:
