ok i wanna know what people are using for leaders (line lb) and what lengths?  i know different scenarios mean different lengths but just in general.  are they mono or braid or flourocarbon? and does leader color matter to you?  thanks in advance

80lb mono, whatever length It winds up being (12"-24"), snelled hook, barrel swivel (no snaps). No sense wasting time and money worrying about color or visibility. Catfish aint that picky.

hanks i have been using between 50 and 60 lb berkely big game up to this year but i was thinkin about switchin to 80 lb.  i have been hearing alot about this cajun red line on here for leaders and i have used it before but on 12l test for channels and it sucked in terms of casting but i can see it being a decent leader...any advice on it

I use to use the 80lb and up leaders, but have backed off to 60lb one of those is cajun red, the other is still in testing stages  tongue

I get a little more range of motion with the less stiff 60lb leaders, and the cajun probably would test much much higher  smiley

I can't believe you like Cajun Red as a mainline Doug. I tried the 30lb on my two penn 9s and it was the worst line I have ever put on a reel. It was stiff, had a lot of memory, and casted like crap. I stripped it off both reels and replaced it with 30lb big game solar green. Casts like a dream now. I have been using what I have left of the spool of Red for leader material on my small cat/striper rigs.

i like both big game and cajun red also.. My main line is 30-50# and my leaders is 60-80........  imo mono is the way to go on it as well...
