Hey guys, check this...line tangle problem... end tackle is getting higher and higher...before I found that I could buy the 5oz pyramid sinkers I like to use(on limited occasions)through the Bass Pro Shops catalog for $4.99 for four of them, I just special ordered four at $2.86 each from my local fishing store... but that's not my real problem...in order to expedite take-down of equip at end of trip,I just use a regular snap-swivel at the end of my reel line, and add when I start to fish... as I can only get frozen shad, I regularly use shrimp...they twist when retrieving the line and I've got the pole line wound up on the leader. I forgot to mention...I use(depending on pole)30 or 50 lb leader/w the sinker loop in the same snap-swivel...usually about 8" of sinker line and 20" of leader..and on the light spinning, the sinker goes directly onto the svivel that the leader is on...the problem is the knot that is on the other end of the leader from the hook...as the tag end faces the hook..the pole line seems to get caught in it quite frequently...don't know if a three way swivel at the snap swivel at the end of the line would stop this...any suggestions ?

From Raymond S. Not familiar with no-roll...but have refrained from using carolina rig for convenience sake... sinker still on line after taking hook off...unless cut line..difficult to transport without damadge to pole..but proably would solve problem...weight obviously drops first/w bait trailing and as shrimp spins, the line wraps together/w the leader...which is why I don't think that a three way swivel would help. In the day time, the problem is somwhat solved by stopping the line from comming off the reel just befor it hits the water...this causes the line to be pulled back towards shore and is not trailing alongside the leader as it decends through the water so it doesn't wrap together...but at night, I can only go by the sound of the weight hitting the water..it works ..sometimes. I'd proably have to do the same thing/w the carolina rig though...

I use a carolina rig but not with your typical no roll. Alot of people use sinker slides on their main line but I have found they don't like the 10 and 12 ounce weights I use and tend to break so I just use a snap swivel in place of the sinker slide. The no rolls I use are poured by a friend and he puts a brass loop in the end when pouring so they can be hooked onto the swivel. This allows you to remove the weight from your line without cutting your entire rig off.

Swivel on the line... hummm...just might work...(oh..I looked up the no roll and see what that's all about too)...was thinking of using a bank sinker as an egg sinker..with a orange plastic beed between it and the end of the line, to keep it from slipping past the end of the line...but still can't take this off so yea, a snap-swivel(placed on the line like a slide sinker)to hold a pyramid sinker, so it would act like a slide sinker, but you could take it off...yea..(I already have the pyramid sinkers)...Thanks guys.....

I run a tackle shop....our lead is .17 cents an ounce - YOU PAY AS YOU NOW KNOW WAY TOO MUCH AT BASS PRO, You dont mean 2.86 EACH at the local place I am sure. You can also but 5oz bank sinkers at Wal-mart and wach them on the drive way with a sledge and make no rolls out of them, they squish pretty easy

Actually, they are not available locally(pyramid sinkers) and I specially ordered them from the local shop(through the mail and I don't know who they got them from) but yes they were $2.69 for each sinker(in 5 oz size)...the only way they are found locally is that Walmart has a bulk bag of them..size 1 oz for $7.49...I think it's a 1 lb bag..bottom row/w the other bulk sinkers...there may be some hole in the wall shop close by, but not that I've found so far...then also, in Little Rock, they proably have them, but that's 60 miles from here... That store regularly sell sinkers for .20 per oz..in the loose bins, in the larger sizes, but like I said, I haven't found them locally yet(large pyramids).

Really apriciate this...and with the new hooks and suggestions about the snapswivel being used as a line slid for my sinker, I've got the tangle problem worked out... Mostly, It was the new hooks that removed the tangle problem...I've tried several sizes and styles of hooks, and on this forum, someone suggested that I try the Kahle type as a substitute for the circle type, and I've been looking for(most of us are slightly picky you know)#1 a wide circle hook #2 in red #3 with an offset...you don't know how many sites and list I've read till I found what I want in a small local shop...but first let me say that I couldn't find all three things I wanted, together till I stumbled across the Daiichi wide circle hooks...offset, red and wide in the same hook !!! Maybe some day there will be a size standardization, but the #5 in that hook is just a small bit larger than an Eagle Claw Kahle #2 but with thicker wire size...and will be tested tonight, as the solarlunatic tables say that between 10:00 and mid. is right for tonight... Now lest you and me forget why I started this post, the Eagle Claw Kahle hook presented me a problem putting shrimp on it so instead of trying to "string"it like with the other(conventional)hooks, I cut it into three pieces and put it on like shiskabob on a stick... no more twirling of the line... So now I can use the carolina rig(because of the snapswivel, I can take the sinker off after using) and the line doesn't twist, and I have my red, offset, circle hooks...and all because I joined this forum and the thoughtful input of you people...Thank You All !!!!!
