The difference in light and no light fishing Phil,,is after umpteen generations of light from a permanent source has been become the norm for that area' and its neighbors,,,,ya go to an area that normally looses it's light when the sun goes down then suddenly flip on the switch, and it scares the poop out of em ;D well at least the older trophy fish,,,young and dumb simply become frying pan material :D

I use the garbge twists that have reflective tape on them. The deer hunters use them to mark thier trails in the wood. They don't glow in the dark but they reflect any kind of a light source. It's made night fishing alot easier. All you do it just wrap them around your rod tips. Their only $3-4 dollers a pack and they last a long time.

Couldnt one use a laser pointer to charge up the glow tape? A focused red or green light like that wouldn't ruin night vision at all and would probably charge the clow material up in a flash. Just a thought.

If you go to an auto parts dealer and ask for wiper hose clips you can forget tape.
I know Hondas use a 3/8 diameter clip that one side could go to your pole and the other hold a light stick. One clip could be cut into several pieces you could use on your pole.
Another solution is to spool with flourescent stren and use a blacklight powered by a 6 v battery. The line will light up like a blacklight poster and the light won't bother fish or attract bugs.

I use white rods with big game high vis. yellow line and I have a 12 volt L.e.d. blacklight the rods show up great and you can see your line almost to the water. It dosent attract bugs either.

We usually use mini glow sticks. I find scotch tape to be the best solution to holding them on the rod. But if we don't have glow sticks we will take an empty pop can and put some gravel in it for weight give it a bend in the middle careful not to break the can. Take the line just in front of the reel and pull it out to the side about 2 feet and loop around the bend of the can. when the fish hits the bait the can falls over making a loud noise and out of the way for fighting the fish.

I use the rod-n- bobs 1.5 " glow sticks. They come in a pack with the holder. After youve got all the holders you need you will only need the refill packs. ( walmart )
