Just wondering if anybody knows where to get spare Pull pins for Do-It no roll mold 3-4-5 oz. Casted some sinkers yesterday and had to use the pin from my egg sinker mold.

Dave
When my pins get bent or broken I replace them by making more.

Get some brazing rod in appropriate size and attach a wood handle by drilling the wood and bending the rod after putting it thru a drilled hole.

The lead doesn't stick to the bronze and they are cheap so I make several.

Dave

I cast sinkers today so I took a picure of my pull pins.

The green handle is from Do-it $5.75
The rest are made from brazing rod---less than 25 cents.

Mine are a lil bent and worn from trying to use pliers when I was first learning but I lost em and ended up finding the lost pins in Flatcatnightmare's (Guppy) garage a couple days after I had cast enough to last me well into spring time.  [smilie=a_doh.gif]
But I think I am still gonna try and make some new and improved ones out of the bronze brazing rods.
I love saving money and that will give me somthing catfish related to do when Im trapped in the house pretending to do chores!

just stick your finger in the hole dave.

I tried that,my fingers were too fat and didnt fit and I got burnt really bad too so thanks for that tip Pat. :P    [smilie=a_jester.gif]  [smilie=a_partyguy.gif]  [smilie=poke.gif] J/K

when I skim the slag off the top I tap it directly onto wood.It leaves a mark, but dosent seem like it would be hot long enough to disolve the wood toothpics. But I like that!

Thanks for the pics Katfish, those look just as good or better than the Do-It ones.I really like the ones you dont need a pull pin for,but not having eggs and no-rolls would be like trying to eat a sandwich without bread.

Yep you can buy the 3/16 welding rods (without the flux coating) for less than a buck a piece and can make about 6 or so from em,,,,next info, to keep your pins from sticking and making them easy to pull, clean them well after each pouring session with a green scouring pad and spray them down with Pam cooking spray,,,I lay em down on a few paper towels then roll em up after spraying in the paper towel and store till the next use
