Here is a rig that I use very often. It's simple, yet does a very good job for me. I use a sinker slide (I use 3 different kinds, depending the weight I'm using & the type of outfit), a plastic bead or a piece of rubber tubbing instead of a bead, then a Berkley swivel attached to a leader then hook. I'll use this rig for both circle hooks as well as regular Octopus or "J" style hooks. Many people claim that the fish will not feel the rig since the sinker is attached to a slide & the slide runs freely up and down the line. I guess this is true, but honestly I use it because I like the ability to add or take off weight w/ out retying my whole rig. The sinker slide shown on this rig seems to do a good job w/ sinkers under 5oz. I use a much stronger slide when using sinker 5oz & above.

The picture above shows a no roll w/ a cotter pin. I will post another thread about this type of sinker, but I wanted to show you other types of sinkers that work well with a slide. Pictured below are some of the other types of sinkers I will use with this rig.

What is the difference between
storm
pyramid
and no roll sinkers
Or better yet what is the best application of each or do it really matter? What holds the bottom the best in swift current thereby allowing me to using a smaller sinker?

Braid will cut the sinker slides however there are some sinker slides that do better than others

Hey Tim, I get them from Cabella's, once you get there go to fishing then to terminal tackle, then to swivels, snaps and clevises. One of the best things about them is you can put them on your line or take them off without having to retie anything.
