Good rod & reel combo for the money. I bought one a few weeks ago at wally world. The bite detection is a little tricky to get set right for the conditions of the day, but once you get it , it's nice.

I looked at them at Wal Mart but to me it looks like something people with little knowledge of hardcore gear would buy. Sorry but they looked like any other Zebco product to me.

They definitely won't hold up with big cat's ,but if you plan on targeting nice eater size fish the combo should work nicely for the money. The rod and reel is in know way hard core gear but it's a decent setup . I have the open face spinning reel so I can't say about the closed one.
