My big cat65 pound blue
« on: September 03, 2007, 12:43:17 PM »

We put the boat in at Hopewell around 7:30 pm. Headed upriver past the 295 bridge into the cut going to the barge pits. Shad were breaking all over the place so we stopped to set the gill net and throw the cast net. 10 throws of the cast net got at least 50 candies and a baby blue cat. Went back to retrieve the gill net and got 10 or 12 nice cutters out of it. Began fishing with not much luck above the 295 bridge hitting 2 spots that have been productive before. After a couple hours we began making our way down river. anchored up in a hole where there was more current and began getting bites. Had a couple nice takedowns with no hookups   After the moon came up good we headed further down river and started checking out some spots when Jim came down to where we were and got some bait since we had plenty of extra. Looked around a while longer and fond a decent looking spot marking fish and set up once again around 2am. After sitting and nodding off for about 15 minutes my dad hooks into a 25.6# blue and woke me up    Got it in the boat took a couple pics and released him back. The tide began to slow down and I caught one lil dink about 5# with a few more runs but no hook ups once the tide went slack we decided to head back to the dock. We pulled up to Jim on the way back in and emptied off the rest of out bait with them said our good lucks and had a nice calm run back to the dock and home for a well needed nap.
