It has been about 2 weeks since we had high water, then Saturday we got 6" of rain and the river came up quickly then dropped quickly.  It took about 3 days for the whole thing to happen.  The river came up 10ft.  I was wondering what effect that would have on the flats?

They will go to the backwater or low current areas and hang out there and wait for things to settle down,,,they will bite in the slow or no current areas while the water is raising.

How will this effect the spawn?  Will it push them off their nests?  Would it delay the spawn since the water clarity was decreased along with the temperatures?

I dont see it affecting the spawn at all. Really I think mother nature has taken care of that along time ago. If I was spawning on the river bank and the water was to rise real fast and I mean real fast.....I would just move up the bank myself. J/K 2wink Really I think mother nature has a built in system on these fish and once the spawn starts I dont see it stopping.

Finally got out on the river and produced 9 flats 2 channel and 1 large carp.  Largest flat was 25lb.  cut all of them loose except a 15lb that took a hook to the eye.  He tastes good though.
