i thought this was on here some where but i cant find it... what do you think about if a beaver is in your area..... i know that beavers will eat fish...i know they aint gonna eat a 10#catfish but..do you think that they mess up the waters for the baitfish? running them out... i have always heard that if you see beaver action on the bank or actually see beavers swimming around that your wasting your time.... what do you guys think on beavers ......

One of my favorite spots is near an active beaver hut. Keep in mind.. where theres beavers theres fish. Where theres fish.. theres flatheads.

Beavers don't eat fish only bark and triggs along with a little vegetation. I've trapped beaver along with other furbearers for many a year and I've never heard of them eating a fish but they do build a lot of good habitate for fish although some not so desirable for land owners.

Yeah, they don't eat fish.  I use to think they did as well.  I've also never heard that the fishing wasn't good around them.  I don't know if you could find a place on our local river without them.

I'm also not a believer that when they thump their tail in the water, that it will scare the fish off.  I think it is a natural thing for beavers to do and fish are plenty use to it.  I had many bites while channel fishing at the same time a beaver is all pissed off and making a lot of noise.  I've had a few flathead runs as well.

Beavers are vegitarians, they don't eat meat. As for fishing around them a lot of trout fishermen up north love a good beaver pond. Beavers for the most part add to the fishing by dropping brush ect into the water and daming up small creeks to make large deep pools of water.
As for the slap of the tail on water im sure it would bother the fish as much as a paddle slapping or someone tossing a rock in the water.
I know if they slap in a slough the carp n cats will all leave out of the immediate area.

Otters on the other hand DO eat fish and will play merrry hob with a fishery. They will kill and eat any fish they can catch, even large cats. Lil bass turds will raid your stringers, trotlines, juglines and fish boxes on the dock. Even to the extent of tearing them apart to get at the fish. Their strong and smart. Devious lil bass turds to! 8)
