in GA they currently don't have a creel and size limit for catfish. This is a petition to try for a 1 34" fish a day regulation. Lets see if we can help them out on this. I dont see where these petition help anything but Im going to sign it. NC just went through this with the carolina catfish club and best advances made was restrictions was placed on two lakes but you will never get the state to protect the flathead at all...esp. if its not a native species. Been lots of studing done here in NC with 50% conclusion on the information from the studies but seems like 50% is good enough to kill the flathead.  Alot of the studies Im referring too was done on the cape fear rivers where the "Robin" (Its a fish) once thrieved. When I say 50% here Im referring to the fact that they was conclusive on the stomach contents to a 50% average and that doesnt mean the fish had 50% "robin" in their stomachs. In other words they know without a dout up to 50% what was in these fish. You tax dollars at work for several years study. The flathead has carried the blame of the hog operation spills in the river that has killed thousands and thousands of fish.  Yet the flathead eat all the Robins and shocking is allowed on that river to harvest the flathead but reports say releases on blues is far and few in between. The best option is get together with a local group of fisherman an have a meeting with the wildelife folks and talk it over. They dont care about a petition from folks all over the country....honestly. The shocking law was introduce through a county law and not the NCWRC. Sounds like a county rep. was a bass fisherman to me but it stands today. Yal come on up and do some shocking...its legal. Need information on shocking contact the NCWRC and they will tell you how to do it. :2wink: |

#27 I hope this helps me to actually catch a catfish of 34 inches or better  maybe we can cut it down to 24 inches for poor old jerseycat cause we all know I like to catch trophy dinks :2stupid: |

Lets hope this will help open there eyes to the recreational catfisherman involvement in there state. I fish there and have done alot of studing on the catfish populations and trends over the past few years. They are definatly on a decline b/k of over fishing. This will help and it will take alot of lobbying to change there current regs. There is a good chance of this law going into effect b/c of pubic interest but it will only be on blue cats. Georgia fish and game are doing there best to eliminate flatheads from may of the rivers in the state b/c they are not native. They shock and net tons on flatheads every year in hopes to eraticate them from there systems. Lets hope this doesn't continue but it isn't in our favor!

I signed it but if ya ask me it will never happen. Flatheads are not native and are considered an invasive species and DNR has been putting forth big $ to try and irradicate them so I dont think they will be very receptive to making laws to protect them  |

I was #94 so it is getting there. This is exactly how Tennessee and Alabama got there regs. It started with some concerned fishermen and petitions.
