I went last night flathead fishing and caught nothing...no runs..nothing, had some great bait rock bass..bluegill and a couple smallmouth bass the bait was lively and we were in productive areas where we did well last year and it just didn't happen, only thing I could figure was the river dropped last night and had an effect on the bite, I'm going again tonight I will post if I have any luck....or not.

Damn Jack, what's up with the Scioto this year?  Have you been throwing live bait at all, or just cut shad.  Is your shad fresh?  You have me concerned about your river.   :?

I think I am going to go out tonight until 10:30 or 11.  If they are biting, I'll stay out longer.  My last trip produced a 25 pounder, but that's not good enough, I need BIGGER.   8)

Will be fishing a Cat tournament Friday night. June 1,2,3 will be at Lake Monroe in Indiana all weekend trying to find them for a tounament the following weekend.

Overall though with the bite having been slow and water levels falling from lack of rain focusing on other species that I can enjoy with the Grandkids. Figure the time spent with what the kids can enjoy at this point is really more important and their not old enough to have the patience for big cattin or long waits yet.

I fished the Mighty Ohio from dark til dawn last night. Had a couple of good runs on live wipers, but the only cat I got was a 5 lb. channel in my castnet.........

I moved into an apartment here in Centerville, OH and finally got organised enough to breath...and ya'll won't beleive it, there is a large pond in my back yard that is full of flatheads. I have had a few different people tell me stories of fish that they have gaught out of it 31lbs, 30lbs, all the way up to 40lbs. The weirdest thing though is what they catch them on th eguy that caught the 30 and 31lber caught his on a jig and pig bass fishing and the other guys use bluegill heads and chicken liver yeah, I said it "chicken liver for flatheads", well of course I had to see what all o fthe fuss was about so I went and caught a few gills from the beds at one end of the pond and put it on a tiger rod and out it went....then I baited up my 6000 with chicken liver(and yes this is the first time I have ever chased a flathead with chicken liver...lol)well who would have gussed it around 10:15 my clicker started screaming, NOPE NOT on the gill but on the chicken liver and after a little fun fight I  landed a 10lb flatthead. It had another kahle hook in his mouth so I got it out for him and quickly released him...al I had with me was my phone camera so if I ever get a cord or a bluetooth adapter I can put the pics on here but it was only ten lbs so no big deal....
