Long story short- I will NEVER loan out gear again. Loaned my gill net and cast net to a friend night before last and got a phone call yesterday morning. "Sorry, but I lost your gill net over by the Benjamin Harrison Bridge." YOU WHAT!?   [smilie=a_holyshit.gif]  "Oh, and I tore your cast net in half too." OMFG!  [smilie=rlp_smilie_003.gif] Got the money for a new gill net from him and ordered one this morning, and he is going to buy a new cast net as well, but thats not the point. When you borrow something you be extra carefull with it! He even had the nerve to make the statement to my wife- "This is why I don't loan out my stuff."   :wall
So now I'm temporarily netless and my gill net with my numbers on it is out there killing fish and waiting to wrap in someones prop. Real freakin nice.

Let it be known to one and all- DO NOT ASK TO BORROW ANYTHING OF MINE. THE ANSWER IS NO.

I know what you mean!

ohhh can I borrow your boat next weekend for a tournament?  Promise i will be careful

in all seriousness, I always struggle with the decision to let someone "borrow" something of mine, because until you know them real well you can just "HOPE" that they treat it like it was there own, rather than treat it like something they are not concerned about.

That sucks Greg! At least he is man enough to buy you new nets though. Think of it this way if your gill net looked like mine does it can't hurt to get a new one. Beats the heck out of patching the old one! I just hope no one finds it by wrapping up a prop and it does get found before too many fish get killed in it   :(

Greg
I won't ask to borrow your net.

But I will gladly pay you Tuesday for
 some cutters today

I had some cousins who were always saying :

That junk reel you loaned me just fell apart!

I broke a rod this weekend just taking it out of the boat.
I wouldn't loan me anything either

Wow! Talk about fast service! My new gill net arrived today. Ordered it Monday afternoon from The Fishnet Company, so four days to get to me from louisiana. Excellent. Price has gone up since last time I ordered tho. Was under $40, now it's $52.53.

Now I'm just waiting on a replacement throw net to be delivered by the clown that ripped mine and I'll be straight again. Gotta make new weights and floats for the gill net tomorrow. Yo, Gutmaster! You got any cement left from when you made your weights?

Thanks, but I picked up a couple at Gander Mountain today when I went up there to check it out. Got the bigger bullet shaped hard foam ones. Gonna take a heck of a lot to pull both of those babys in. lol. Now I just need to rig up some new anchor weights. The ones I had were 5 lb sections of round metal stock with eye bolts welded to the top. They were tensioning weights we used at the place I used to work. When they took the machine out I laid claim to a couple of the weights. I may just pour some out of cement in a plastic cup like Mike did if I cant find something better. Shoulda went into Greentops today and looked at the cannonball weights.
