I was at Markland dam last weekend. I was trying to catch some skipjacks but had no luck. I talk to a fellow that was catching skipjacks with small jigs. He had about 6 of these jigs tied on and a egg sinking on the bottom. Would anyone know what kind of jigs he was using or whats the best jigs for skip jacks..Thanks

he could have been useing sabiki rigs.  they come pre tied with 5 or 6 small jigs on a leader.  we use them here ( nc ) to catch  white perch

I have heard of them using 1/16 oz jigs to catch those with. They are bigger than our white perch here in NC.....I heard. Someone will chime in for you.

I use crappy jigs and get them from Walmart for $2 a pack.  White grubs with black jig heads seem to work the best for me.  I tie two of them about 12" apart on my line.  They seem to work better than large sabiki's but sabiki's will work good also. Good luck.

Normally we slay the skips just like Steve described above but here lately when the skips seemed to disappear Doc recommended trying the smaller sabiki rigs and that was the ticket. Thanks again Doc its hard to catchem without baitand catchin skips is almost as much fun as catfishin! :)
