Coldfrontmark called and asked if I wanted to go fishing Silly Question so we met up at the Herring Hut and got some herring for bait and put in at Scotts ferry landing Mark decided that we would go to the IBEW cove so we ran up the Lake and ended up lost but the cove we found look like as good a place as any so we set up and got some lines out and it didn't take long to get that skunk out of the boat I caught about a 2lb sun perch on a 4 inch live herring then Mark caught a hybrid on a downline and then I caught one maybe a pound then it settled down for a little while when all of a sudden one of Marks rods went sideways he only tripped once getting to it and said this is a good one as it was stripping drag and had the rod doubled over so I went looking for Marks Landing net which turned out to be a souped up Dip net  crazy grin grin about the time I got back beside him asking him what I was supposed to do with it LOL the line went limp and he was bummed big time because the hook untied from the line  :2cry: grin seems Mark took some Buddys from work fishing a couple of weeks ago and one of them who will remain nameless [BJ] had tied on some new Hooks on some of Marks Gear and they had lost a fish to the same thing then and Mark had gone through his rigs and retied the hooks but it seems he missed one then he sat there for 10 min's just shaking his head and mumbling that one was huge and it would have made the whole trip did I mention that Marks PB is a 22lb Blue  smiley and I sat there and harassed him about his small landing net  angel grin grin but he got over it and caught a large crappie on a 4 inch herring then just after Dark his front rod slammed down and he was off to the races he only tripped twice but to give him credit he has a 30ft Pontoon and he was at the back of the toon  grin needless to say it was one of the smallest rigs Mark has a light spinning reel with a medium Shakespeare rod and 20lb test and this fish was having its way with Mark stripping drag diving under the toon  every time he gained some ground the fish would surge to the bottom and Mark would have to start over then we realized that we had a baitlite on in the water so I unplugged it and Mark finally got the fish to the surface and then we found out how hard it is to get a 50lb Flathead into a souped up dip net  shocked grin but we finally did as we started lifting it into the boat my rod slammed down so I dropped Marks Flattie and grabbed my rod and found out it was wrapped around a stump I could feel the fish struggling but being smarter then the average bear I had the proper gear I had one of my new tidewater 30L's on a Shakespeare Power Rod with 50lb cajun red mono and I was trying out the new Triplefish 40lb Chum Line Leader with a 7/0 bleeding red circlehook so I put some pressure on it and felt the fish come unwrapped and as I was bringing it to the boat it was fun to watch Mark trying to unfold his flathead from his souped up dip net so he could scoop mine which turned out to be a 25lb flathead  koolsmiley I believe that I have convinced Mark to invest in a new landing net  :2wink: smiley I have to give credit to the triplefish leader after we unhooked the Flathead I checked the line and it looks like the leader took the brunt of the abuse from the tree and was nicked up some but it held and thats what counts  cool that ended the fish for that spot we tried another spot with nothing happening then we went to the WestDam area and setup and I got a 10lb Flathead on my little hybrid rig which was a blast now to make a long story longer here's Marks new PB 50lb Flathead and my 25lb flathead which I got Mark to hold up at the sametime looks easy in the Pic  grin but poor Mark was wore out and had to take a break for refreshments afterwards and when I left Mark at 6am at the ramp he was still all hyped up with his Flathead couldn't have happened to a nicer Guy  smiley cool
