So I dragged my buddy Catmansc down to Doug's creek house, as Chef Jim reported that the flatties were on fire! AWe went out Tuesday evening but the wind was up so we were limited to fishing a few spots that were somewhat sheltered. Unfortunately, only the bait-stealing turtles were active that night. The next morning we headed back out and caught 9 blues & 1 channel by 3:30pm, the biggest about 15#. It was incredibly hot, and I swear that we all lost about 10# sweating in that heat

We went in for some lunch and a little AC, then gave it 1 more try. The wind had risen again, so we were not able to try the spot up on a

flat that we had scouted, so we tried a couple other spots: Ended up with 1 small blue, 1 gar and 1 turtle that I caught on a bait rod. The gar & turtle were new PB's for me, so all in all it wasn't a bad evening. I have yet to catch a flathead, even tho I have fished Marion about 3 times now. I'm starting to believe that the stories of giant flatties is just part of a propaganda program initiated by the Santee Chamber of Commerce as a means of luring gullible Upstaters down to fish
