I quit posting the satelite photos and locations when I found a couple of the B.O.C. jokers invading one of my Honey Holes...Let them find their own fish...Or bait or whatever those guys fish for is..... 8) But now if someone was to talk to me in chat and ask me nicely...I might be able to help a fellow out some.

That would confuse the new members who might join up later. Then they would think we were all a bunch of whacked out booze hounds....

Not around here. You have to drive a fur piece to get into good water.

How far is a fur piece for you RR? They hold big tournys in Havana. Shouldn't be much more than 45 minutes from you to there. Should be worth it if your gonna' do an overnighter or a week-end camp out.....Then from there Sanganois or Anderson lake would be about another 10 or 15 minutes. And if you was to travel all the way down to Whiskerville about an hour out and was to cross over that bridge and get on the Schuylar county side....With the Rail Road bridge in site....I gotta' really good spot for ya' to try.

It's 102 miles to Havana. Peoria is only about 60 miles. LaSalle lake is about 60 miles. Pappa Smurf and I are kicking around the idea of going up where the Vermillion River comes off the Illinois River. The cell phone company that we work with is in Marsailles along the river. We may even hit that place up. It's just that after a week of work we usually go fishing on Fridays after work. I'm not sure I'm up to a full day of fishing away from the family. Although if we caught some of those flats that folks are showing in their avatars it may be worth it. Have to talk to the wife about it I guess.

Sorry....I thought you fella's was closer nearabouts Peoria than that. You might drop a PM to shortshank and ask if he'll give up a few of his old holes on the Spoon River if that would be closer for you....He sure isn't using those spots anymore.

Well,...I just looked Fairbury up on the map. It took me some time doing it too. You two fella's are sitting in an out of the way place aren't you..... And just your luck,...It's one of the areas of the state that I don't have any fishing experience in. I'm going to have to turn you over to more knowledgeable hands. Have you ever tried sending an E-mail to your regional wildlife biologist from the DNR...That contact info should be listed on their site...And all the ones I've ever talked to were always glad to help a fella' out.

Thanks for the info. There are places to fish around here but we bank fish. Pappa Smurf is pretty busted up from a real bad accident a few years ago so we try to go places where we don't have to walk to far. That's one reason I started using a back pack for a tackle box. That way I've got my hands free for the chair and poles if we do have to walk. We're going to try to get his boat going this year so we can hit up the Vermillion River. Last year we borrowed a 12' jon and used Dick's trolling motor. We're old enough that we had to stop every so often and fish from the bank to stretch out our backs. Need to get his motor running so we can get into the outside bends and tributaries of the Vermillion. His boat is a 14' v bottom so it would be more comfortable than a jon. Our neighbor got some blues out of the LaSalle lake. I saw a couple 35 pounders that his fishing partner caught. The only thing is that you need a 14' boat and a big enough motor to get off the lake in a hurry. The wind can whip up some pretty big whitcaps in a hurry.

Busted up or not, we are going to do some serious catting this year. It's to just back the truck up where we are gong to be fishing, but this year we are going to fish a lot of different water. Once the boat is running, ridge can do the motoring, it's just a 9.9 and I can't handle sitting there looking sideways, so ridge gets the job. I know some good spots but you have to have a boat to get to them now, the farmers have blocked off the bank and let the weeds grow to tall to make it through in the truck or walking, about ¾ mile walk now. When we went out last year in the borrowed boat, I believe we saw a lot of good cattin water, guess we will find out this year.
