JetDoc and I went fishing on the Ohio River. We launched out of Tanners Creek and barely got my truck back up the ramp. There was a big pile of mud all the way across the ramp where someone (presumably the town of Lawrenceburg?)had removed it from the rest of the ramp and decided to pile it just a few feet from the water making it very difficult to launch.
We got all the shad we needed with two casts of the castnet then it was time to do some fishing. At out first stop JetDoc had just just set two poles in the water and was setting up a third and got a takedown. It was a 25lb Bluecat. We were thinking it was going to be a great day at this point, ten minutes of fishing and we already got a 25 lber in the boat. Well the rest of the day was not as well. We got a few more bites and JetDoc got another Bluecat that was 7lbs. Then it started raining on us. No rain in the forecast and we did not bring any rain gear so it was back to the boat ramp.
Here is what Scott's line looked like after ten minutes in the water to give evryone an idea of how bad the debris was in some spots.
A few of the vital statistics:
Water Temp: 35F at the ramp, 37 in the river
Air Temp: 45 degrees
Level: 33 Foot (Kinda high)
Water Conditions: Muddy, fast flow on the rise with TONS of debris (Had to dodge TREES and refrigerators)
Structure fished: Deep holes on ledges, submerged wing dams, creek mouths

I think that may have been the only time I have ever been scared on my boat on the Ohio. 6 to 7 foot wakes coming off this yacht and water was lapping over the back of my boat.
