My big cat- is a 28.6lb blue
« on: August 22, 2008, 03:13:40 PM »

Hello all!  I just moved to N.C.  and am trying to find local catfishermen.  Does anyone have any experience on lake Hickory for channels?  I would love to pay for the gas if any one in NC was willing to show me the lakes in this state.  I am recently out of the navy as a Seal.  Did a couple trips to the middle east.  I moved back here with my wife and 10 month old son.  I have been catching channels since I was in a diaper in Texas.  Grandpa has his secret blood bait recipe that works better then anything I have ever tried.  I cant wait to learn more and try catching some of these bigger cats.  On the drive back here I caught my biggest channel(12 lbs) with Grandpa who is now 87 and stilll out fishing me.  lol.  Again I would love to pay for the gas, bait and anything else to get out on the water with anyone here in North or South Carolina.

Welcome to the site.  You can accompany me anytime you want that I don't have a partner.  I fish Badin, Tillery and High Rock.  You got Hickory, Norman and Rhodhiss close to you.  Norman probably has bigger fish, but that is a lot of water.  Hickory has lots of channels I've heard though I've never fished it.

Thanks for the replys!   I proudly served our country and am glad to find a great catfish site.  I will take anyone up on hunting these big cats up here in N.C..  Just tell me which lake to meet you and I am there!  I worked at hmlanding.com an ocean fishing landing in San Diego for the last year before moving out here.  We were catching 30 lb Albacore tuna and yellowtails.  I have all my gear from fishing these ocean fish, which should work great for these 40 lb cats.  I have a tackle box with just catfish gear in it.  I have been researching the gear it would take for bigger cats and have been buying a little here and there.  Again thanks for the replys and info...
