That's some interesting stuff.  How fast is the current where you guys are fishing?  If you throw a 5-6oz sinker out to the side of the boat will it stick?  That planer board seems like a great idea but there's always a ton of stuff out there floating down the river that I would think could get hung on the planer or hell the float itself.

i'm ony fishing about a mile below the dam and im fishing when they are pulling water so it is pretty good current, usually need a 4 oz no roll
yeah, the trash is the downfall  sad
but if they have been pulling water for a while and cleared the trash out its game time

Fatflattie you fish the Cape fear also. That would be a trick doing the planer boards on the river. With all the trees on the river it would probley be very hard. The slipfloats do work ina current enviroment. The only problem is that the floats will come together in back of the boat. What I do is just stagger them about 12' apart.

That was one thing I was concerned about is them coming together.  I was thinking about the stagger or also putting the bobbers on the outside rod holders or will that not keep them apart either?

mine do ok on a steady drift but go everywhere if the wind stops blowing. or anchored without current. I useally do 2, I need to check out your set-up Buck. my bait lives longer on my float rigs I think, atleast until they get slamed grin

i do this when iam runing my trolling motor or with a steady current. i like to do this when you see them blues rolling on top ( early morning ) i fish the floats 5 feet deep and as the sun goes up the deeper i will run the bait. i use ballon as floats tie them on and you are still able to crank your line up all the way to the fish. if i knowed how i would draw a pic of it for yall .it takes some getting use too but a can turn around and not get tanged up.  unless a fish gets on one of the ballons. if any one would like to know more   pm  me  and i will give you my ph#
