I got 4 American Spirit Nite Stick Pro Model rods (2 7'6" and 2 8') and two Quantum Big Cat rods. Britton stepped up from a couple of Berkley Lightning rods and 5500's to a couple of 8ft Glowsticks and a couple of Penn 320GTO's(man are those sweet reels). I have Tidewater 30L's on 4 of the rods and Abu 6000's on the other two. Me and him both use 30lb Ande and 50lb leaders which I'm gonna have to step up, finally had a fish break the leader a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks Doug!
Bigcat, what kinda setups do you use? Just wondering since you're about the only other one that fished the river.

I heard that. You like those King Kats? They "look" like they wouldn't throw a big weight but looks can be deceiving. I wish that I could use power pro or a similar braided line but we get hung to much and with me being a little dude and my boat being little I'd be pulling the boat all over the place trying to get the line to break, I have a hard enough time breaking 30 without pulling the back anchor up. And Britton even though he's 6'12" he only weighs about 75lbs so he's certainly not going to break 80lb

those king kats are worth every cent of the 19.99 i paid for them, havent messed up a guide or anything and i really dont baby them at all, i have even chunked 5 oz weights with them, they got a good backbone, but if you get any get the white ones, the blue signature series suck, and wes the braid is great for getting hung up, that is the whole reason i use it, get an 80 lb braid and a 40 lb leader and when you hang up it is so easy to just pop the hook off, 90 % of the time the leader breaks at the hook knot or the hook bends. the reason it is so easy is there is no stretch in the braid, you can take the line and wrap it around the reel a couple times and one jerk and pop, you reel it in and pop a new hook on and ready to go again, the only thing about the braid if you lock down the drag and pull on it it will dig ino itself, that is why i wrap it around the reel, doug prolly drifts with the braid down at santee, maybe he can chime in

Well, I'm finally going to make it out to the lake tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! It's been about 3 weeks since I've done any catfishing so me and Britton are gonna fish till we can't stay awake any longer I can't wait to get out there and get on em. Hopefully we'll have some pictures and a good fish story or two for ya and I'm gonna try out the slip bobber thing and see how that works in some of the more snaggy areas. I'll let you guys know how it ends up.

We got out to the lake yesterday around 4:30 and the conditions seemed perfect, bait was pretty easy to catch. We had plenty of live and frozen for cut bait. We fished until 4am and only had 3 fish to show for it, one gar, a 23lb flathead, and a 12lb channel cat. I had a nice fish break me off. We had a lot of action on the bobbers, but I believe that they were all gar, Britton about killed himself setting the hook on one of those guys It wasn't too bad, it was better than not catfishing that's for sure. We'll get 'em next time though! PS-I also out did Britton for about the first time this year

Yeah, it was great to be out there again, just wish we would have caught a few more, they just weren't cooperating last night for some reason.
