[smilie=a_holyshit.gif] I got a theory to try out down on the James with my cut bait,,,so here it is before Racn and Cataholic turn this into some weird threid about spanking and monkeys  :chainsaw

Well everyone knows how fresh bloody cut bait works better than stale sunburned shad and to over come that we put em on top of ice real quick to keep the flavor in.  But a lot of that flavor is in the form of blood and the oils in the skin.  Well the skin oils aint going anywhere real fast but the blood will wash off very quickly after being turned into cut bait and it's first dunking....So now we need a way to force that blood into the flesh so what better way than to give that stinky fish a bunch of brusies before dropping it into the ice chest.....well there is one other way,,,maybe Jamie can help us out there to force some blood into the flesh and that would be with a bunch of Sucker Bites  [smilie=poke.gif]  :bluboom  :minigun  :lightning  hehehee gotcha Jamie

Ahhhhh a shad punching bag! I like the idea and even if it doesn't work you can let some agression out and be a lil calmer to focus on catchin the cats.  :thumbsup

i didnt see it at all- Jim had to point it out to me, that this thread was even here.

Jim has the problem with bait because he cant catch bait very well.

US very good catters dont have that problem because we catch enough bait to swap it out often so they always have fresh scented bloody bait in the water........

Learn how to catch MORE bait and the problem is solved and you can spank your monkey as often as I spank mine.

LOL I did burn one on the campfire one night playing around and caught a catfish.Even landed one with Jason,Mike and Bradley with a pc of leftover ham skin and fat it had gralic on it.Cats will just about eat anything at the right time and spot I think. But I am going to try the bruse thing before I borax and frez the next bag of shad. Now borax is another great tool for keeping bait fresh!

Borax? I've never heard of this before. How do you use it on bait before freezing?

The bruise them idea sounds interesting to. I have heard of people stepping on their shad heads before putting them on the hook but i have never tried it.

I beat em asw soon as they came out the net still laying in the bottomr of the boat. I also looked around to make sure no one was watching to make sure they didn't want to have me committed

I lay bait on newspaper and cover to dry lightly.
Then lightly cover bait with Borax, both sides
Frezze and when you use it,it will ALMOST bleed like fresh when hooked .

Mike AKA MAsterBaiter taught me that a while back,we will step on bait heads 1st time they come in for bait check or relocation.
